Trampers for hire

OUTCOME B2

Residents and visitors can access a variety of routes in the National Park aimed to improve physical and mental health.

Working in partnership with local businesses Trampers are offered for hire in different areas of the National Park. The Tramper is a specially designed, all-terrain mobility scooter, which can be used off road and even on rough ground, mud and grass. It is very robust, with light, accurate steering and tailored suspension, making it easy to handle and comfortable to ride on. It enables people who have a mobility impairment to experience the countryside; and to accompany friends and family when out walking.

Hiring the Tramper – The Tramper is available for use to anyone who has difficulty walking because of a mobility impairment. Before you use a Tramper you will need to come for an induction in how to use this vehicle, including a safety briefing and importantly a test drive with a member of staff. This is so you feel safe and confident using the Tramper before you take it out for a ride yourself.

We have a couple of trampers available for hire. One is based at Beddgelert Forest and one is based in Dolgellau. They can be transported to a your location of choice from the accessible routes that are promoted on the SNPA website. From the Beddgelert Forest site you can take the tramper along Lôn Gwyrfai on the west side of Snowdon which goes from Rhyd Ddu to Beddgelert `off road`. This is a really lovely route. The Mawddach Trail which can be easily accessed from Dolgellau or Barmouth is a fantastic 9 mile stretch of old railway line, considered to be one of the best accessible trails in Britain for all abilities.

Wherever you fancy taking the tramper for a ride, a member of staff will be available to advise you on suitable routes and organise the logistics for you to access and enjoy the National Park.

We currently do not charge for this service, but any donation to the National Park is very welcome.
